Hi!

My name is Eve Edelheit and I’m a staff photo editor on the metro desk at The New York Times. Before my editing career, I was an independent photojournalist based in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was a frequent  contributor to The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post among other clients. Growing up in Minneapolis, I swore I would never move to the south, but life has other plans. After studying at the University of Missouri and the Danish School of Media and Journalism, and four back to back internships, I became a staff photographer at the Tampa Bay Times for six years. In 2018, I began a new professional chapter as a freelance photojournalist, covering all corners of Florida and beyond, and I've never looked back. I loved living in Florida and telling the stories of this truly incredible place.

I deeply care about the profession of photojournalism and giving back to the community that helped me get to where I'm at now. I'm currently volunteering my time on the board of directors of the National Press Photographers Association  and as a faculty member at the Eddie Adams Workshop. I'm also on the board of APhotoADay and where I have helped raise money that helped photographers document their own communities through grants.
